So, my original 3g phone was stolen, so I was running on my original iphone. I was going to wait a couple of weeks, but today Mark surprised me by buying me one (well, he gave me his ATM card and told me to go buy one.)
So, I have a new iphone and a very spiffy case with a built in battery.
I am very happy with it, but I need to explore it more. Too bad it’s a five show weekend.

A Dream Deferred
by Langston Hughes
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore–
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over–
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

I am going to Boise, Idaho for 2 or three days this summer to visit some family . . . but what else does one do in Boise?

so, a newspaper in town wrote a very interesting article about our show. now most articles about shows are press-publicity, reviews or interviews, but this was an op-ed type piece really slamming the play (not the production, but the text) and it’s relevance in the era of gay marriage.
huh?
I mean, I get that the play is trying to test, break, redefine a relationship – love among the artists – but I am not sure I take the same thing away that the write of the piece stated.
Regardless, I find it fascinating that someone was so passionately moved by our play to write such a thing – even if I don’t agree with it.

Saturday between shows . . .
The cast did Burrito day – which was a lot of fun – although I did a veggie burrito salad – avoiding meat and tortilla – but it was good. Now enjoying a passionfruit ice tea and an iced coffee before the show.
The show is going well, ticket sales strong, audience reaction is fantastic. (If you live in the DC area, do hit me up for tickets – if you don’t like Shakespeare, this is a nice change of pace – Noel Coward being both serious and witty.) I hope we will be announcing an extension soon – I would like to stay with this show one more week.
Mark has been having a hard time at work – I think a major project came undone. He also has had some back pain this work – so he has been in pain. I am hoping it passes soon.
I am in the middle of hiring and filling positions for next season – just had my calendar/budget approved, so I need to move forward on interviews and so forth.
Monday though will be more thrill rides at Six Flags in New Jesery – I am driving up to Princeton on Sunday night, and then scooting over to the park – flip through the roller coasters and then come home Monday night. Tuesday is first day of tech for King Lear – so I will drop by there. Always nice to sit in on someone else’s tech.
Weight loss has been stalled, although I am down to 257 (from 420) I have been bouncing around 257-262, but hopefully will get back to the gym next week. (Since my choice will be sit in Lear tech or go to the Gym, I am pretty sure the gym will be looking MIGHT attractive.)
My vacation plans are on old hold until I hear about the extension – money is tight – and I will have to rely on the kindness of Mark, but the plan is to go to Boise, visit my grandmother for two days, and then visit Quin for a week – hopefully getting down to Southern California to visit some friends/family.
Okay, time to get ready for tonight’s show . . .

I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my grandfather.. Not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car.

So, the supreme court held up the voice of the citizens. BRAVO. BRAVO. BRAVO.
My only hope is that this will get bump up to the US Supreme Court, and we will quickly do the only right thing. Keep the government out of Marriage – let them issue Civil Unions to everyone. Your marriage will be define by your religion.
In the end – I think it is ending up all being about a word MARRIAGE – that has too many emotions wrapped up in it.
I don’t care if they call it SHLAPPED, as long as I am afforded the same rights and privileges as two other adults in a union – I DON’T CARE.
